The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for a regular part-time Emergency Management Administrative Assistant position in the Emergency Management Division (Emergency Management Cowichan) within the Strategic Services Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Emergency Management Division, the Emergency Management Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support services to assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the regional Emergency Management Service, as well as administrative support services to the CVRD Electoral Area Fire Services. This includes: providing intermediate to advanced level administrative support to the division, including staff, volunteers, and fire departments; meeting and training coordination and support; correspondence preparation; database and spreadsheet maintenance; equipment and supply ordering/tracking; processing and tracking of financial documents; records management; and responding to agencies and the public on Emergency Management Service and Fire Services inquiries.

Qualifications:- Secondary School graduation plus completion of a clerical/secretarial training program
- Courses in Emergency Management are considered an asset
- Five (5) years experience in an administrative or clerical environment
- Experience working in local government is preferred
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License
Guaranteed 17.5 hours of work per week. The work schedule will be coordinated to meet operational needs, and additional hours may be offered up to 35 hours per week. Applicants must be available to work a flexible variety of shifts, primarily during regular business hours of Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work may also be required. This position will work in-office initially and may be eligible for Work From Home consideration after an appropriate training period.
Salary:Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $34.70 - $35.70 - $36.76 per hour (January 1, 2024 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
