The Employment Advisor is a valued team member tasked with ensuring our Resource Centre is a warm and inclusive space for our clients to job search and access WorkBC Employment Services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Client Service:
- Initial greeting and screening of clients in person and via phone.
- Support clients to register for needs assessments and client services.
- Assist clients to apply for jobs, complete resume updates, employer orientations or other applications related to finding or sustaining employment.
- Ensure welcoming and inclusive space for all clients and guests.
- Prepare and offer a range of current labour market information to clients.
Action Plan Development & Case Management:
- Work collaboratively with clients to develop action plan activities and goals.
- Encourage clients to see career opportunities even when faced with challenging circumstances.
- Determine client eligibility for programs, services, and financial supports.
- Monitor clients progress and revise action plan as required.
Marketing:
- Creation and distribution of social media marketing materials and posters as required.
- Preparation and participation in local job fairs.
Administrative Support:
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete office related tasks such as preparation of correspondence, filing, and record keeping.
- Ensure accuracy of client information and data entry in BC provincial database.
- Request and receive client case transfers from other WorkBC catchments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer and client relations.
- Preference for degree, diploma, or certificate in Social Services, Humanities, Office Administration, or Business Management.
Note: Willing to train the right candidate. May consider equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficient with technology in a Windows environment, MS Office/365, printers/scanners, and web-based tools.
- Strong business English competency including verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain non-judgemental stance and adhere to client confidentiality and professional conduct policies.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills and demonstrated ability to serve with marginalized and culturally diverse populations.
- Excellent collaboration, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in challenging situations.
- Specialized knowledge and familiarity with the local labour market is an asset.
- Creativity and knowledge of Canva and PowerPoint is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits Package:
- Wage Range: $23.46-$25.40 per hour (35-37.5 hours per week)
- Vacation allowance starting at 3 weeks per year (prorated and accessible within first year).
- Additional paid holidays include 13 statutory holidays per year.

Working hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. The Employment Advisor will be eligible for employee benefits after a three-month probationary period.
