Workbc Employment Advisor

Kitimat Community Services Society is looking for a full-time (35 hours per week) Employment Advisor to expand our team at WorkBC Kitimat Employment Services

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Interview clients to gather information about their education, work history and career goals
• Assisting clients to write resumés, prepare for job interviews, build job-readiness skills and develop job-search strategies
• Assess clients’ needs for support, financial aid and training and refer them to the appropriate services
• Provide clients labour market information about job openings and skill requirements
• Working with clients and providing ongoing support as they progress to achieve goals and objectives in their action plan
• Developing a positive relationship with clients by encouraging, motivating and supporting them to achieve sustainable employment, and increase independence and self-sufficiency
• Maintain client files utilizing the Integrated Case Management system and adhere to WorkBC policies
• Demonstrated experience in report writing and documentation related to program activities, progress

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in the delivery of employment support services (employment counseling, client needs assessments, coaching/mentoring, working with multi-barrier clients and persons with disabilities)
• Must possess a high degree of digital literacy in order to utilize complex databases (Integrated Case Management), meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teams and software such as Excel and Microsoft Office
• Must possess a strong ability to implement a client-centered approach to helping, while utilizing a highly structured and prescribed framework
• Strong verbal, written and conflict resolution skills and must be detail oriented with ability to meet set deadlines
• Must have experience working with vulnerable populations and knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and pass a Criminal Record Check
• Ability to establish and maintain a client-focused approach using coaching techniques and active listening skills; uphold and maintain confidentiality
• A strong understanding of professional standards of practice with respect to clients
• Exemplary organizational skills and ability to set priorities in a fast-paced work environment
• Passion for working with people and providing holistic support

Starting Wage: $25 per hour. Upon successful completion of 12-week probation $27.50
