For over 155 years, The Bishop Strachan School has been helping talented girls become fearless women who are able to navigate the world with intellectual curiosity, agility, and compassion. Our teachers provide a rigorous curricular experience that embraces inquiry-based instructional strategies that align with our Signature of a BSS Girlattributes and our Culture of Powerful Learning best teaching practices. We are seeking a highly collaborative teacher to lead our English department who is passionate about their subject area and who actively seeks the opportunity for interdisciplinary and real-world connections.
Department Heads function as instructional leaders to mentor, coach and problem-solve and act as visionaries within Grade 7 to 12 departments. Department Heads are middle managers within the faculty, who share responsibility for implementing the strategic goals of BSS and are members of the Academic Program Team. They work with the Middle & Senior School Leadership Team to implement actions within their department. They are experts in the wider areas of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment and evaluation.
