The Environmental Division of ParklandGEO Ltd. is an energetic team of professionals and technicians who work closely together to achieve excellence. Currently, ParklandGEO is looking for an Environmental Technician to be located at our Red Deer office, including working in the field and travelling for projects.
The Opportunity
You will work closely with an impressive team of engineers and technologists, conducting environmental assessments in the office and field under the direction of environmental engineers.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting Phase 1 environmental site assessments
- Performing soil sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities
- Monitoring and conducting groundwater sampling
- Managing wellsite reclamation, including site contouring, decompaction, topsoil placement, and weed control
- Completing detailed site assessments
- Developing and monitoring compliance with Environmental Construction Operations (ECO) Plans
- Having experience in erosion control and contaminated site assessment (Phase I/II) would be considered a strong asset
- Conducting hazardous building materials assessment or sampling would be considered a strong asset
- Demonstrating the ability to operate various types of field monitoring equipment
- Compiling files, organizing field data, interpreting laboratory results, and assisting in the preparation of technical reports
- Possessing the ability to travel and work for various durations in the field
- Adhering to both ParklandGEO and site-specific health and safety plans
The Qualifications Required
- Diploma, degree, or equivalent in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work individually and in a team setting in a demanding consulting environment
- Capability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with clients, co-workers, and the management team
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to travel and work for various durations in the field
- Capability to multi-task and coordinate multiple field programs
- Team-oriented with a commitment to safety excellence
- Previous environmental fieldwork experience (drilling, site assessment, sampling, inventory, monitoring) is an asset
