Job Overview
Working under general supervision, we are seeking an intermediate ETL Application Developer who will contribute to Wawanesa's success by building, maintaining and supporting business systems and applications. This role will primarily be responsible for the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) services offered by the Data Management team, encompassing both software maintenance and development assignments, and more.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test software and processes to implement schema and/or data quality changes to the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Collaborating with multiple departments, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents supporting Data Management applications.
- Monitoring of production workflows and processes.
- Provide support for monthly server/application patches, application, and infrastructure upgrades
- Provide periodic on-call ETL support for all ETL applications.
- Deployment of ETL Code packages to Stage and Production environments.
- Participate in code reviews and release planning sessions
- Estimate and track progress of assigned work.
- Create and update relevant documentation.
- Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines.
- Keep current with relevant technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of Post-secondary degree or diploma in software development or equivalent experience, or combination of education and experience.
- 2 to 4 years' experience with:
- Windows, Linux, relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server), Structured Query Language (SQL), Oracle PL/SQL, Java, and Microsoft Office Products.
- Informatica ETL tools including PowerCenter and/or Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), preferably both.
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and Data Warehousing concepts.
- Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize and identify issues and take proper action to resolve them.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for creation of reports and support.
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to self-manage a fluctuating workload, with various situations and changing priorities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- other ETL tools such as AWS Glue
- software development tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, Source Code Management and TeamCity
- software development languages such as Python, Java, and Jenkins
- Continuous Integration (CI) processes and technologies such as Jenkins
- Business Intelligence tools and software like MicroStrategy or Power BI
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and infrastructure, specifically with AWS tools like Redshift, Athena, Aurora PostgreSQL or GLUE is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in the Insurance Industry and Guidewire Insurance Suite is considered an asset.
