Excavation General Superintendent

  • Fraser Valley, Lower Mainland, and Delta, BC
  • Full-time permanent position, Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

They specialize in site preparation and ground improvement, including all aspects of preload sand, delivery, slope stabilization, excavation, dynamic and vibro compaction. Excavation General Superintendent

As the new Excavation General Superintendent, you’ll be responsible for leading one of the best crews in the business, supervising staff, and managing projects that are focused on excavation, shoring, tiebacks, backfill and civil projects. You’ll ensure that those projects are delivered on time and within budget. You’ll demonstrate proficiency and understanding of the management of site logistics in contract operations on tight urban sites along with site preparation and open job sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple projects & foremen
  • Supervision of the actual physical construction of the project in strict accordance with the contract documentation and specifications
  • Verification of safety compliance with all trades
  • Maintenance and planning of reports, workarounds, shutdowns, and tie-in’s
  • Resolution of jurisdictional disputes
  • Enforcement of safety and quality-control policies
  • Direction of the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and their sub-contractors when required to ensure high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule
  • Maintain relationships with project owners, subcontractors, unions etc.
  • Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs
  • Set performance goals and deadlines
  • Work with the project management team and office staff
  • Plan construction processes

The best in this role will have a friendly demeanor, are professional, present well, and are clear communicators. They can handle pressure and coordinate several tasks at once and have keen problem-solving skills. They know how to implement quality and health & safety standards onsite.

The Details

This is a full-time permanent position. You will work 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, working 75% of your time in the field and on-site. The other 25% of your time will be spent in the Delta office. Most of the field/site work is in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley. Qualifications

  • 5+ years as an Excavation General Superintendent or in a similar position
  • Civil construction industry knowledge and experience working on projects including excavation, shoring, tiebacks, backfill
  • Experience leading teams in heavy earthworks, road building, and bulk hauling
  • Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
  • Familiarity with CAD software, Experience with Prolog is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field is considered an asset
  • A valid Driver's License is required for this position
