Reporting to the VP, General Counsel & Secretary, TAI, this core position provides support to the executives in our legal department.
The wage scale for this job is $43,700 to $56,500 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This Teck American Incorporated full-time, regular position provides the employee (and their eligible dependents) a comprehensive flexible benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. The employee is also covered by Long Term Disability insurance and is able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. In this position, the employee will accrue a minimum of 10 days of vacation leave and 12 paid sick days (1 per month) throughout the calendar year. There are ten paid holidays per year.
Other Compensation includes, but is not limited to, annual bonus and profit-sharing.
Responsibilities
Be a courageous safety leader, adhering to and sponsoring safety and environmental policies and procedures
Responsible for exercising judgment and independence in providing administrative, planning and executive support of a confidential nature to the Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and legal team
Initiate and complete duties with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive time limit cutoffs and changing priorities
Assist and coordinate the team's budgetary and reporting process
Be the primary resource for receiving, screening and prioritizing the incoming calls, correspondence and meeting requests
Responsible for arranging travel and completing monthly expense reports for the legal department
Drive the executive calendars, including initiating and/or responding to meeting, travel and event requests
Support the office management function, including coordinating office maintenance and working with third party vendors to coordinate pivotal services
Independently plan and prioritize meetings and events
Coordinate and sensitively mange corporate and legal records, including maintaining the legal electronic and paper filing system, digitization of physical records, compiling board books and coordinating outgoing and incoming department mail
Support the management of outside counsel, including coordinating invoice approvals and payments, entry data into legal matter management reporting systems, and compiling accurate and timely litigation reports
Support the contract lifecycle management, including coordinating requisite approvals and signatures for US transactions, data entry into contract management systems and leading communications to ensure transactions are closed in accordance with Teck governance and financial policy requirements
Represent the executive office and legal department with professionalism, teamwork and integrity
Qualifications
Associate’s degree or professional certification in a related field required with preference for Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business or Legal Administration
Five years administrative assistant experience with at least two years’ experience providing support to senior level management or two years corporate experience
A combination of education and experience may be considered in meeting the requirements of this position
Proficiency using current Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook) and electronic dictation; speed (minimum 50 WPM) and accuracy in word processing
Ability to lead a broad range of administrative duties and varying priorities, including problem solving skills, strong interpersonal and planning skills, integrity and attention to detail
Experience handling confidential and critical information
Experience with records management, data entry and data management systems is helpful
