About the role:
The position of a Field Operations Lead places a paramount focus on ensuring the safety of both workers and infrastructure assets. We are in search of a dynamic and ambitious candidate who is enthusiastic about advancing in their professional journey and furthering their career within the utility sector. A minimum of 3 years of experience in completing public locates and successful completion of the Damage
Prevention Technician program by ORCGA or an equivalent 6 weeks of in-class training are prerequisites for this role. The primary responsibilities of this crucial role include leading our field technicians through training, providing support, and fostering the ongoing development of our core services.

The role will have its primary location in the Greater Toronto Area, involving extensive daily travel, accounting for approximately 95% of the time. Additionally, there may be occasional requirements for extended periods of travel away from home for 2 to 3 days on a semi-monthly basis.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities of this role:
The primary duties of the candidate include conducting public and private utility locates, performing field surveys, and contributing to the advancement of training and safety programs. The required skill set and processes for this role involve utilizing Electromagnetic (EM) induction equipment and ground-penetrating radar to complete utility locates. Proficiency in operating survey-grade GPS, with experience with Microsurvey considered an asset, is essential for capturing information on existing infrastructure and above-grade equipment. Additionally, the candidate will conduct utility pole surveys, which entail gathering detailed information on existing conductors, cables and equipment.

Experience and Qualifications:
A minimum of three years of experience in conducting public utility locates which include telecommunications, electrical and gas infrastructure.
A minimum of three years of experience in conducting electrical and telecommunication surveys, encompassing both underground and overhead surveys, is required for this position.
Must hold valid DPT Certificate (approved for all utilities) maintained by the
ORCGA.
A minimum of three years of experience utilizing Utilocate or equivalent design software.
Review and understand utility records, as constructed drawings.
Knowledgeable with CSA 22.3 No. 7-15 Underground Systems.
Knowledgeable with CSA 22.3 No. 1 – 15 Overhead Systems.
Knowledgeable with Ontario Regulation 22/04.
Knowledgeable with Ontario Traffic Manual - Temporary conditions.
Experience with AutoCAD 2018 (minimum).
Graduate of Civil Engineering technology/technician, Electrical Engineering technology/technician.
