Duties and Responsibilities:
- Layout and design of telecommunication network elements in accordance with network design criteria specific to individual carriers and structure owners.
- Perform right of way and route assessments to confirm route corridors are acceptable for telecom infrastructure. Understand stationing, how to determine drop path, demarcation point and placement methods to feed each structure.
- Reviewing engineered plans and blueprints
- Documenting and reporting on completed telecommunication work
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in fiber cable termination with connectors
- Proficient in using laptop and fiber testing tools
- Working knowledge, experience, and proficiency with current computer operating systems including Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications.
- Ability to work in a man-hole (confined space) and working at height (Ladders on Pole and bucket truck)
- Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and able to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel to other locations for periods of time for future projects
- Self-disciplined, motivated and organized
- Be well organized and have good customer service skills
Experience Required:
- Fibre Optic experience or FTTX / FTTH project
- Experience using fiber testing troubleshooting tools
- Technical training considered an asset
- Field experience in Telcommunications
- Certificate for Civil construction (First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space, TCP, etc.) considered an asset
