Safe Software is looking for an enthusiastic Financial Analyst to step into a temporary role covering parental leave for a 14 Month period.In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day financial operations, year-end and regulatory reporting, operational improvements, and more. You'll support our full-cycle finance and accounting activities and report directly to the CFO.
About The Team
Our Finance team covers a broad range of accounting duties at Safe, from AR/AP and daily operational accounting to analysis. You'll join a team of AR/AP Specialists, a Controller and CFO to ensure the financial health, growth, and scalability of the company. This team in particular works closely with a variety of departments (HR, Information Services, and Customer Engagement to name a few), so you will have the opportunity to meet many faces at Safe. Our focus is to spend time optimizing our internal financial reporting and process flows, rather than continuing to do things in the same way we always have.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Finance Analyst, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Prepare timely and accurate internal financial statements and reports
- Assist with facilitating year-end preparation for our external-party accounting firm
- Prepare cash flow statements and bank reconciliations
- Prepare regulatory and compliance reports with tax or government authorities
- Support and review general ledger, receivables, and payables reports to ensure accuracy
- Investigate and critique variances and offer practical suggestions for improvement
- Identify, recommend, and document improvements of internal control processes
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects as required
- Actively participate in Finance team meetings to share ideas and develop solutions

Required skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Technical skills:
- Excellent foundational knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with regulatory filings with Canadian provincial and federal governments
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and financial modeling
- Strong understanding of internal processes and controls
- Experience working in public practice
- Effective communication skills
- Emphasis on teamwork and collaboration
- Ability to analyze information to make informed decisions
- Ability to think critically and propose solutions for problem solving
- Ability to exercise mature judgment to priority tasks to meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- A Bachelor's degree, diploma or certificate in Accounting or related field
- Knowledge of and/or experience in Canadian corporate tax
- Knowledge and experience in US state income tax and sales tax
- Working towards a CPA designation or recently qualified CPA
