The Financial Analyst supports the management team with the preparation and analysis of financial statements while taking into consideration the company's commitment to our seven core values such as Sustainability (people, planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility. This role will provide administrative support and will ensure that the team is staying organized. This is a contract position for a 6-month period.
In this role, you will:
Corporate Budget & Management Reporting
- Assist with management reporting of the combined and individual companies' financial results
- Assist with detailed budget reviews of larger departmental stakeholders
- Prepare monthly financial analysis on operating results vs. budget
- Prepare monthly departmental financial reporting; provide insights and recommendations to the management team
- Consolidate budget submissions and ensure budgets are in line with corporate goals and initiatives
- Manage and maintain the company's financial reporting software (Cognos Finance)
- Develop financial reports in Cognos Finance as required
- Assist with the monthly AOP financial package for the management team
- Assist with:
- Internal Management Discussion & Analysis and Corporate Finance Update
- Required external Quarterly Bank Reporting
- External Quarterly Management Discussion & Analysis
- Economic research (interest rate and foreign exchange forecasts, etc.)
- Competition analysis (Canada, USA and international)
- Project evaluation, deal evaluation and all due diligence requirements
- All reporting inquiries from external agencies
- Establishment and maintenance of Factors Group's corporate finance principles and practices
- Prepare all journal entries with capital and operating leases
- Act as primary point of contact for leasing partners for all administration
- Work with internal stakeholders to structure financing options
- Assist with lenders' requirements for leasing and equipment financing
- Support annual audit requirements related to Factors leasing portfolio
- Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned
Technical
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Economics
- Pursuing Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is an asset
- General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and the Canadian tax environment
- Prior experience with financial reporting systems is an asset
- Strong, advanced Excel skills (Vlookups, HLookups, Pivot tables), Excel financial modeling is a plus
- Strong presentation / reporting skills using PowerPoint and Word
- Working knowledge of System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval (SEDAR) is an asset
- Previous compliance experience of Canadian securities regulation, International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), and Dodd-Frank is an asset
