We currently have aFinancial Analyst co-op opportunity for talented and creative students to be part of our team and share our values and passion. The Financial Analyst coop will report to the Controller and have the opportunity to work with various parts of the company, including construction project staff, estimating, and procurement. This role is designed to give the successful candidate exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, project accounting, and mentorship.
This is an 8 month co-op opportunity, running from May 2024 to Dec 2024 at our Ottawa office.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain daily banking entries
- Prepare standard journal entries for fixed assets, prepaid assets, and payroll
- Prepare project cost allocations
- Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Assist the finance team in monitoring KPIs for cash collection, billing targets, and margins
- Participate in project review discussions about financial risks and opportunities
- Ad-hoc projects and analysis as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Interested in pursuing their professional accounting designation (CPA)
- Be able to build effective & productive working relationships across business units and within the finance team
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Integrity, team player, and an appetite to learn
- Resourceful, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Be organized, results-driven and deadline-oriented
- Self-motivated and pro-active, for managing workload and professional development
DESIRABLE
- Related work experiences are a strong asset, including from other co-op placements, internships, projects, or extra-curricular clubs
- Knowledge about the construction industry is an asset but not mandatory
