Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform accounting and reporting activities on a recurring basis to support an accurate and timely period-end close, including but not limit to:
Manage Fixed Assets by keeping track of all acquisitions, disposals, transfer of assets and maintaining the Fixed Asset subledger
Prepare working papers to support E&E and PP&E reporting
Perform month-end settlement and DDA run in SAP
Prepare post accruals and journal entries as required
Complete reconciliations and prepare financial reports and analysis
Support overall compliance with SOX processes and controls. Create or update process narratives
Assist in Statistics Canada surveys, financial audit and tax filing activities
Involve in technology upgrades and changes related to Fixed Asset Accounting
Identify and analyze possible improvements to processes and implement selected solutions
Be an active member of the Finance team; support peers, brainstorm issues, complete ad-hoc requests, and be flexible in completing any assigned projects
Requirements and Qualifications:
To qualify for this role, you must have:
A university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
A minimum of 5 years of work experience in accounting or financial analysis
Certified Professional Accounting designation (CMA, CA, CGA, CPA)
Financial reporting experience under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Oil and gas accounting and reporting experience would be an asset
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of products
Advanced experience with SAP, SAP-BW, and Group Reporting is highly desired
Proven analytical skills and a continuous improvement mindset
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a team-based environment
Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
