As a Financial Analyst – Insurance Services you’ll be a trusted business advisor to our clients in the insurance industry. You’ll have the opportunity to partner with our clients and interact with Insurance organizations across Canada to perform invoicing, collections and analysis related to the financial aspects of our client’s business. You’ll be redefining how we manage our organization and how we work while achieving budgeted targets and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality work product to clients.
Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
As a Financial Analyst - Insurance Services, you will have experience in general accounting and finance concepts in areas such as budgeting, fee calculations invoicing and collections. You’ll be a key player in all aspects of day-to-day accounting activities for our client. You’ll make a significant contribution to supporting high-level executive reporting and ensure the bookkeeping is up to date and correct.
Scope of Work
- Conduct end to end finance activities (e.g., budgeting, invoicing, collections, reconciliation, audit) for Insurance clients as part of our Consulting business
- Calculate insurers assessments fees based on the defined business rules and inputs from IBM client counterparts
- Generate and issue invoices for distribution of assessment fees to 140 Insurers across Canada
- Perform collection process of invoices of assessment fees
- Manage Accounts Receivable / credits and aging report; review bank statements
- Generate and produce reports (e.g., inventory assets, monthly deposits) on defined frequency (e.g., monthly, quarterly)
- Supervise and ensure all financial transactions in the general ledger are both correct and auditable
- Support Financial Lead with reports and analysis
- Answer insurers’ questions on invoicing, assessment calculation, etc.
- Manage stakeholder (client, insurers) relationships
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Insurance industry experience working within core business units (e.g., claims, sales/service- billing) or support functions (e.g., finance)
- Knowledge of insurance industry concepts and terminology (e.g., direct-written premium, Allocated Loss Adjustment Expense, etc.)
- Ability to work independently
- Working towards a CPA (nice-to-have)
- Experience in Accounting Role, A/R, A/P
