BIS Safety Software is a fast-growing technology company providing leading software for the safety industry. We are looking to add a Financial Controller to our expanding team.

About the role
In this position, you’ll have a significant impact on the growth of our company. Our ideal candidate is someone with a proven track record of growing a company (SaaS or Online software ideally). Reporting to the Leadership team, you will be responsible for driving initiatives aimed at improving all areas of finance within our company, while navigating the financial complexity of our organization (we offer a variety of complex product offerings, we have team members in Canada and the United States with a growing international client base, and a focus on sustainable growth without the reliance on outside capital).
We are looking for someone who can tell our story just by looking at the numbers. We will rely on your strategic insight and recommendations for areas we can improve our financial position, shining a light on opportunities for both increased revenue and cost savings, reducing risks, and finding ways to automate processes...and everything else Finance that supports our long term growth and stability.
This role will be equal parts visionary strategy and roll-up-your-sleeves execution, and will be an in-person position based out of our Sherwood Park, Alberta, office.

In this role, you will be expected to
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and the appropriate controls
- Translate financial data into a compelling story that unveils trends, opportunities, and risks, enabling informed strategic decisions
- Design and implement a financial strategy that aligns with our growth targets, leveraging insights gleaned from the numbers
- Generate insightful financial reports and analyses that vividly portray our growth journey, providing clear visibility into our financial health and progress toward our sales target
- Devise financial KPIs and metrics that illuminate our path, empowering stakeholders with the narrative hidden within the data
- The overall financial leadership of the organization including accounting, reporting, and strategic decision-making support
- Oversee all financial operations, including year end, GST, WCB, and T4 preparation and filings, and remittances, accounts payable and accounts receivable, Operational accounting and preparing financial records
- Auditing work for accuracy and compliance with internal accounting policies
- Preparing, supporting, and tracking budgets and forecasts and reporting findings to management
- Performing financial analysis to provide cost savings and profit-maximizing ideas, reviewing ratios against industry and internal benchmarks, identifying trends, and developing business growth strategies
- Developing and monitoring pricing and compensation strategies
- Oversee and approve employee payroll, including calculations for taxes, deductions, and benefits

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree an asset
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- Proven experience (5+ years) in financial leadership roles preferably within the software industry or a technology-driven organization
- Demonstrated proficiency in overseeing substantial company growth
- Exceptional understanding of financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with a demonstrated ability to narrate growth stories through financial data
- Strong attention to detail
- Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong MS Excel skills, and a high aptitude for learning new technologies
- Highly skilled in MS Excel with a strong ability to grasp and adapt to new technologies
Salary ranges are based on experience, reflecting the unique skillset each individual brings to the role.
