Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Financial Controller will manage our Canadian and United States divisions. The Financial Controller is a self-driven and experienced addition to our team who will play a crucial role in the Company’s financial management and success. The controller will lead an accounting team and set up a rigorous financial control process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
› Oversees the accounting operations of the Canadian and United States divisions;
› Responsible for the Accounts Payables function, by leading an AP team;
› Enforces Company policies such as travel and expense policy and new vendor approval;
› Builds and maintain relationships with management of all levels, departments, vendors
› Collaborates with Treasury to manage vendor payments;
› Safeguards the Company from unintentional payment and overpayment;
› Prepares monthly cash flow projection;
› Manages the General Accounting and the financial reporting, by leading an accounting team;
› Adheres to the month-end and year-end close process, by aligning with the Global finance team and consolidation process;
› On a monthly basis, reports and interprets financial results to the Global finance team;
› Ensures that current internal processes and controls are adequate to produce proper accounting records;
› Maintains and documents accounting policies;
› Manages the tax compliance in Canada and United States, both indirect tax and corporate tax;
› Participates in the budgeting process and the variance analysis;
› Supports the Global finance team for the consolidated financial audits, by managing the audit requirements for the Canadian and United States divisions;
› Actively participates in ERP improvement implementation;
› Leads the accounting team of the Canadian and United States divisions and plays a vital role in recruitment, training, retention and motivation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’d degree
- 5 years of experience as Controller & 5 years of experience managing a team
- Bilingual (French and English)
- Experience with ERP
- Excellent organizational skills to manage several tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical mindset
- Can work under pressure: multiple deadlines, multiple priorities, peak times
- Strong sense of ownership
- Great interpersonal and communication skills, both for technical tasks and for developing direct reports
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
- Interested in upskilling such as system automation, keeping up to date with technology and accounting rules
- Finish at 1:00 p.m. every Friday!
