We are looking for a Fixed Assets Accountant. The Fixed Assets Accountant works with operations to ensure proper accounting of assets from acquisition to retirement. The health of the organization is measured by many things - the best of which is its financial performance.
Join a group of technically proficient accounting professional and participate in capital reporting, processing and analytical functions for ENMAX Business Units.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide accounting guidance and information to business partners to assist in decision making
- Adhere to accounting policies and processes
- Prepare working papers for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements
- Prepare account reconciliations
- Perform account analysis, identify anomalies, investigate and coordinate any necessary corrections
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, work with business partners to implement changes
- Capital work order control, monitor status of work orders to completion
- Run Fixed Assets month end processes for assigned companies
- Unitization to asset classes, process retirements
- Journal entries for accruals, adjustments, corrections, and record cost of removal
- Adhoc reporting for information requests
- University Degree with 4 years related experience or Diploma in Business or Commerce with 6 years accounting related experience.
- Accounting designation or combination of education and work experience would be considered
- Minimum six years of experience in accounting
- In depth knowledge of IFRS with the ability to apply accounting standards in decision making
- Fixed Assets accounting experience
- Experience with preparation of capital financial schedules
- Regulatory Accounting knowledge would be preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a large volume of accounting transactions
- Capable of performing in team environment to achieve team and organizational goals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide support to business partners and assist in resolving issues
- Sound judgement in problem solving while adhering to company policies and accounting standards
- Time management skills to meet tight month-end timelines

Salary: Accountant Level C (Current CUPE 2024 rates)
$91,889.62 - $97,642.64 - $103,375.82 - $109,128.84 - $114,862.02
Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
