Base31 is Prince Edward County’s hottest new cultural destination, located on the site of a former 70-acre WWII air training base just outside of Picton, Ont. The site was purchased in 2021 by PEC Partners Inc. with an ambitious revitalization plan that has since seen the adaptive re-use of many of the heritage buildings, transformation of the landscape, and significant investment in placemaking, public art, programming, site activation and food & beverage programs. The site opened to concerts and events in the summer of 2022 and to date has featured events ranging from major concerts for venue capacities ranging from 175 - 2,500 people, large-scale immersive art experiences, drone shows, gallery and museum exhibitions, historic tours, interactive experiences, culinary experiences, kids’ camps and art classes. Base31 will continue to grow and develop over the coming years with an evolving fusion of creative placemaking, culinary arts, heritage, ecology, events, innovation, and community. OVERVIEW

This is a rare opportunity to join the founding team undertaking a revitalization of Base31, a new 70-acre cultural tourism destination under development as part of a larger 750-acre site in Picton, Ontario. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Food and Beverage Supervisor to join our team on a four to eight-month contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all venues and sites offering Food and Beverage services. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, the ability to troubleshoot and de-escalate, and the willingness to work weekends, nights, and holidays during the summer season and until the end of October. This position will report to the Head of Food and Beverage and will work closely with the Base31 departments including Properties, Placemaking & Visitor Experience, Events Services, and programming. This role is fast paced, and execution focused, requires strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and necessitates constant collaboration and coordination with both the internal team and external parties.

The Food and Beverage Supervisor will play a vital role in site activation and attraction through supporting the daily operations of various Food and Beverage initiatives and vendors across multiple venues including several bars, concert venues, beer gardens and event spaces.

JOB SUMMARY

• Monitor and manage the operational needs of all Food and Beverage storage facilities, equipment, and rentals.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and implement necessary measures for improvement.
• Be on-site and present for every weekend during the summer season and major events.
• Oversee operations during nights and holidays to guarantee seamless service delivery.
• Collaborate with the Head of Food and Beverage to align operational strategies with organizational goals.
• Maintain effective communication with internal teams, vendors, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Interpersonal skills:

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within the Food and Beverage industry.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of the role.
• Highly driven, fast-paced, detail-oriented approach to work with an ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company policies regarding health, safety and security.
• Promote and practice compliance with fire, health, safety, hygiene standards and regulations.
• Ensure that each venue and site offering Food and Beverage services is adequately equipped for operation.
• Conduct regular inspections to guarantee proper maintenance of facilities, including electrical, water, and other infrastructure needs.
• Liaise with various departments to coordinate and address operational requirements.
• Work closely with vendors to ensure they have all necessary resources and facilities to operate smoothly.
• Address vendor concerns and collaborate on solutions.
