Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of paid professional tax preparation experience using professional tax preparation software
- Prepared a minimum of 125 tax returns per tax season for the last 3 years
- Experience in preparing various federal and provincial tax returns for individuals, including students, pensioners, self-employed individuals, rental property owners, investors, and those with foreign income
- Experience in preparing and filing complete customer personal returns, including employment, self-employment, rental income, investments, T1135, foreign income, and all applicable credits and deductions
- Working knowledge of tax laws and concepts, strong critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with using Windows and mobile platforms, as well as G-suite applications (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility in availability and schedule
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French (reading, writing, and speaking) is considered an asset
- Experience in preparing Quebec tax (TP1) returns considered an asset
- Experience providing support in a contact center environment is considered an asset
- Provide tax guidance for personal tax returns in a remote, seasonal, and customer-facing role
- Collaborate with customers to prepare or review their tax return, ensuring compliance and accuracy by offering guidance and/or tax preparation services
- Research and address tax-related questions, communicating directly with customers through written and oral methods
- Offer Full Service assistance to prepare, review, and file customers' returns with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), or provide guidance as customers prepare their own returns, including tax advice and assistance with required documents for the CRA
- Stay updated on tax regulations to provide accurate advice on maximizing customers' tax returns
- Create outstanding customer interactions and experiences that instill confidence, utilizing your empathy, in-depth tax knowledge, and expertise
- Proactively seek and provide the right answers to each customer, using government websites, professional resources, and the expertise of your team, translating complex concepts into everyday language
- Apply established practices, procedures, and company policies to troubleshoot and resolve customer inquiries
