What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management is looking for an experienced software engineering professional to join an Application Development team and drive our modernization and cloud adoption program forward.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our development standards, and practices. You will contribute to deliver effective solutions that meet the timeline, and quality standards.
What will you do?
Design and implement application solutions on the target platform using Java, REST microservices, and Kubernetes Cloud deployments for reliability and scalability
The senior Java Developer will develop Java Spring Boot applications, with MSSQL.
Follow best practices and development standards for high quality delivery. This includes code review, static code analysis, and unit test coverage
Performance testing and analysis to ensure the applications perform under various load profiles
Technical documentation, training, and information sharing with the team members
Work in an Agile Scrum team to incrementally deliver solutions to Product Owners
Provide L3 production support along with other team members
What do you need to succeed?
Must haves:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Experience building Java applications using Spring and Spring Boot with relational database backends
Experience developing Cloud based microservices.
Experience profiling and analyzing applications written on Java and relational db for high performance and scalability
A strong understanding of technology and/or financial services industry
Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Nice-to-have:
Experience with microservices in cloud such as Azure, Openshift, PCF
Familiar with Workflow Automation such as Airflow, ActiveBatch.
