Funeral Director:
Duties include, but are not limited to: conducting transfers of the deceased from place of death, assisting with the dressing and casketing of the deceased, preparing for funeral services, deliveries, driving and care of funeral vehicles, assisting with administrative duties, light housekeeping duties, assisting in managing parking lot activity, and other related funeral home activities. 4-6 days a week. Every other weekend. 80+ Hours per week 2 week schedule.
Perform a variety of tasks during funerals to assist Funeral Directors and to ensure that services run smoothly and as planned.
Greet people at the funeral home.
Offer assistance to mourners as they enter or exit limousines.
Close caskets at appropriate point in services.
Transfer the deceased to funeral homes.
Obtain burial permits and register deaths.
Direct or escort mourners to parlors or chapels in which wakes or funerals are being held.
Place caskets in parlors or chapels prior to wakes or funerals.
Clean and drive funeral vehicles, such as cars or hearses, in funeral processions.
Carry flowers to hearses or limousines for transportation to places of interment.
Clean funeral parlors or chapels.
Arrange floral offerings or lights around caskets.
Provide advice to mourners on how to make charitable donations in honor of the deceased.
Assist with cremations and the processing and packaging of cremated remains.
Perform general maintenance duties for funeral homes.
Act as pallbearers.
Issue and store funeral equipment.
Licensed Directors consult with family of deceased regarding funeral and related services. Arrange for transfer of remains from place of death to funeral home. Oversee and complete preparation of remains. Co-ordinate burials and cremations, Complete legal documentation. Interact with intern Funeral Directors.
Credentials Needed: Embalmer License, Funeral Director License, Driver's License.
Embalmer Specific Skills Needed: Embalm remains, Perform restorative work, Perform cosmetic work on remains
