What Success Looks Like at Layfield
Successful Geomembrane Apprentice Technicians at Layfield are self-motivated, highly disciplined, enthusiastic team players that have at least one year of previous construction experience.
In addition, the Geomembrane Apprentice Technician is a safety-focused individual who is adaptable to changing schedules, enjoys working outdoors year-round and is available to travel extensively throughout Canada for up to 24 days at a time.
What You Will Learn
- Proper deployment of geosynthetic materials.
- All aspects of the the installation, including: the welding and seaming of geomembrane liners and environmental containment systems.
- You will operate plastic fusion welding equipment used in the installation process, such as wedge welders, leisters, tensiometers, etc. and other basic hand tools.
- You’ll help identify and process/equipment improvements.
- You’ll ensure all projects are completed at our industry-leading safety standards and above customer expectations.
What We Look For
- Minimum 1 year of construction laborer experience.
- Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Availability to travel to different job sites Canada-wide for extended periods of time (up to 24 days).
- Successfully pass pre-employment or pre-access (drug & alcohol) site testing.
- Safety-focused individuals who enjoy working within a team.
- Good analytical skills and sound judgment to resolve issues.
- Valid driver’s license.
- The following safety tickets: CSTS 2020, H2S Alive, Intermediate First Aid (Standard First Aid w/ level C CPR), ESC Confined Space Entry Monitor, ESC Fall Protection and WHMIS 2015.
