Summary of Position

Responsible for maintaining the grounds and The Main Inn, Rooms, and Cottages

Key Relationships

Internally: Provide all essential information to department heads and employees.

Externally: Continuous contact with employees, suppliers, deliveries, requiring excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

Education

Essential:

  • Ability to communicate and comprehend both orally and written in English with employees and customers.
  • Valid Drivers License required and ability to be Insured by Employer

Knowledge

Desirable:

  • Previous experience/ employment in outdoor property management, waste removal and grounds care/upkeep.

Skills & Abilities

Essential:

1. Self starter and ability to work independently.

2 Ability to work cooperatively with managers and employees as part of a team.

3 Ability to work in a methodical and efficient way to effect repairs, complete assignments and communicate needs to the maintenance manager.

Physical Effort required to perform the job:

  • Lifting materials from approximately 25KG
  • Extensive walking, standing, crouching
  • Extensive use of small engines (lawn mowers, trimmers, tractors, )
  • Use of manual tools, shovel, rake and hammer.
  • Required to use a ladder up to 15 feet from the ground.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain a positive working relationship with team members and management as part of a team.

2. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with company and departmental policies and procedures.

3. Maintain related knowledge of fire and health & safety policies & procedures.

4 Maintain company knowledge within the maintenance function by attending training workshops and meetings as needed.

5. Maintain client and company confidence by keeping information confidential.

6. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and professional communication at

all times with guests, visitors and employees at all times.

7. Ensure that all guests and visitors are greeted as per the company standard greeting at all times.

8. Responsible for maintaining the lawn by cutting and trimming the grass on a regular basis.

9. Responsible for removing the garbage by truck from various locations at the resort to the disposal bins.

11. Prioritize guest requests and respond as per company policy and procedure i.e. remove and take in cots and cribs, furniture, minor repairs, plunge toilets, clean and stock firewood.

12. Maintain the walkways and parking lot as per seasonal requirements i.e. snow removal with machine and shovel including sanding and salting (where applicable).

13. Make entries in the prescribed log relating to grounds and pool maintenance in accordance with Company policy.

14. Maintain the grounds of the resort and cottages as per resort standards i.e. remove debris, garbage, leaves, weeds from beaches, rake beaches, repair equipment

15. Perform minor landscaping work i.e. cut grass, rake, fertilize and water lawns, weed gardens, prune trees and shrubs.

Meetings

  • Responsible to attend department meetings as required with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring that work is performed with the proper techniques and equipment in order to ensure a safe environment for both the guests and employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS while performing the job:

  • Required to work outdoors and indoors therefore climate will vary requiring appropriate attire, sun block, steel toed safety boots, gloves rain coat
  • Use of chemicals such as chlorine, paints, varsoil
  • WHMIS training a necessity

Duties will also include:

Public Area Attendant Responsibilities:

1. Assist with the set up for special events.

2. Assist with the set up and tear down of conference rooms when requested.

3. Set up the coffee, tea and snacks for the conference rooms when requested.

4. Clean, sanitize and maintain all public areas including smoking areas, dance floors, washrooms, recreation area, change rooms, exercise room, hallways, main reception area etc. as per company standards.

5. Clean and sanitize all areas of the public washrooms including toilets, urinals, walls, sinks, taps, dispensers and floors as per company standards.

6. Responsible for refilling the paper towel dispensers in the public washrooms.

7. Clean and empty garbage’s and sanitary boxes in public washrooms.

8. Ensure that all supplies are restocked and available in the public washrooms.

9. Check toilet paper rolls and refill when required.

10. Sweep and mop the washrooms floors including cleaning of the baseboards.

11. Check air freshener dispensers in the washrooms and refill when required.

12. Clean seasonal areas as required i.e., patio tables and chairs.

13. Polish brass and chrome features throughout the public areas of the hotel.

14. Vacuum main reception area and coat check area.

15. Dust all furniture in the public areas of the hotel.

16. Sanitize and clean all glass fixtures in the public areas of the hotel.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $16.55 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
