Head Cashier/Customer Service

Monday to Friday employment. Looking for someone to start ASAP for training purposes, understand if you need to give 2 weeks notice if already employed. If able to start right away bonus. This all can be discussed during interview.

Creatures Pet Store is a locally-owned family run business.

Seeking an experienced, mature cashier with confidence and professionalism, dealing with the good, the bad and the ugly sides of customer service. A team leader able to motivate and insure completion of expected job duties for themselves and other team members. Must have ability to multitask various front end functions when busy. Have a strong work ethic and cheerful attitude, dealing with the customers. Confident to help educate pet parents in all aspects of pet care. (Pocket pets, birds, dog and cat) We are looking for you to join our team.

Job Details:

The focus of this position will be the friendly, daily greeting of our customers and accurately completing cash register transactions. Completing front end assigned tasks. Assisting customers with dog, cat, bird and small animal products.

Running POS system for store in following areas: Greeting and assisting customers in sales transactions

Receiving stock deliveries

Answering and assisting customers inquiries that call in

Handle escalated customer inquiries and complaints, resolving issues in a timely and satisfactory manner

The ability to work on your feet daily and lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly is necessary.

Quickly learn working knowledge of products that we carry to assist customers. Especially in areas of: Dog – food, leashes, shampoo, hair brushes etc. Cat – food, litter, accessories Small Pocket Pets – food & bedding and Bettas

Answering and assisting customers inquiries that call in

Handle escalated customer complaints, resolving issues in a timely and satisfactory manner

·You must be able to work quickly and efficiently, on your own, through a checklist of daily duties.

Handling of customers purchases which may consist of reptiles, fish, rodents, insects, worms and other animals

You will also perform routine housekeeping tasks, stock shelves, maintain inventory, clean the store, and help where needed

Day to day care of any animals available in the your department (birds, small animals)

Able to work in a fast paced environment, with a calm and friendly attitude.

Qualifications:

This individual will be a team player who enjoys working with and educating the public in a friendly and professional manner. Strong interpersonal skills while handling all aspects of customer service and the ability to accept direction and work as part of a team. Preference could be given to individuals with the following cashier/front end experiences:

One or more years of experience in the pet retail trade or product knowledge is preferred.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members

Experience with POS System, accurate and quick.

Able to process all types of credit card, gift card and cash transactions.

Have stock receiving experience.

Demonstrated ability to handle difficult customers with professionalism and empathy

Knowledge of phone etiquette and the ability to handle high call volumes

Able to learn policies and procedures quickly and apply them to their work.

Ability to understand instructions from other team members or management to carry out and complete tasks.

Able to manage time while ensuring the quality of your work.

Maintain excellent customer service in sometimes demanding work environments able to remain calm under pressure.

Individuals that are quick learners, with little practical experience but a keen interest, the willingness to learn, and have the following basic skill sets should also apply:

Communicate effectively with a polite and professionally in a non confrontational manner.

Clean and organized.

The ability to work on your feet daily and lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly is necessary.

Ideal candidate will be confident, friendly, outgoing, and can multi-task, while still being detail oriented.
