About the Role
The Ergonomic Student supports work activities in the facility ergonomic systems. This may include specific project-based work or activities to ensure equipment and work methods are designed to minimize and/or eliminate ergonomic risk hazards, while maintaining, and improving quality and productivity. The Ergonomic Student supports and participates with the Ergonomics Committee as necessary.
Your Responsibilities
- Promote ergonomics at the design, implementation, and operational stages of all work processes.
- Complete ergonomic assessments both proactively and reactively.
- Complete and maintain the Physical Demands/Job Safety Analysis for various equipment within facility.
- Ensure compliance with Magna Ergonomics Metrics Program.
- Assists in the return-to-work program for employees by working in cooperation with the employee, department leader, H&S Coordinators and WSIB.
- Collaborate with various departments or other resources to implement effective corrective actions to eliminate ergonomic hazards.
- Supporting resource to the Joint Health, Safety, Ergonomics and Environmental Committee.
- Comes to work each day, as scheduled.
- Promotes/recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people, processes and equipment/machinery.
- Conducts themselves in a professional manner when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive.
- Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook, Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety programs (e.g., TS16949, ISO14001, ISO 45001, IATF).
Who we are looking for
Someone who:
- Has a knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation an asset.
- Has demonstrated the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Is able to exercise tact, discretion, good judgment, and strict confidentiality.
- Has excellent analytical, organizational, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Has computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, window, and web-based applications.
Your preferred qualifications
- Enrolled and /or completed Bachelor Degree through a recognized university/College (i.e., major in Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Human Kinetics, or Occupational Biomechanics).
- A knowledge of Ergonomic principles, anthropometry, physiology, biomechanics, anatomy and human factors and various ergonomic assessment tools (e.g., Snook Tables, RULA, biomechanical modeling software, NIOSH Equation, etc.), recognized ergonomic guidelines, standards and best practices.
- Experience with JACK, BakPak/HandPak Software an asset.
Preference will be given to those who are currently enrolled in a co-op or placement related educational program.
Candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Records Check and, if deemed necessary, a Credit Check as part of the candidate selection process.
