Elevated Workplace Safety (EWS) is a sister Company to Millwrighting, Machining, and Motorsports Companies. Based out of Hanover, Ontario, EWS provides health and Safety Training to businesses and individual workers specifically throughout the Province of Ontario.
Reporting to the President, our Company is expanding and looking for a part-time Health and Safety Training Instructor. The position will be based out of our main office in Hanover, with potential site-specific travel required. Job details are as follows.
General Duties
The Health and Safety Training Instructor’s General Duties include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
· Initial meeting room setup prior to scheduled course commencement;
· Distribute learning and training materials to trainees at the beginning of the course;
· Professionally present and instruct in-person training (theory (and practical based on specific course) in each of the following courses, as scheduled:
o CPO approved Working at Heights Construction (Full Course and Refresher Course);
o Safe Operation of a Forklift;
o Safe Operation of an Aerial Work Platform;
o WHMIS 2015;
o Lockout/Tagout; and
o Confined Space Awareness;
· Assist with trainee clarification throughout courses, also initiating relative discussions;
· Providing specific direction to the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA Green Book), as required;
· Grading final trainee evaluations, both written evaluation and practical skills;
· Administrative duties, as required; and
· Final course clean-up.
Experience
- 3+ year’s prior experience in a skilled-trade and/or health and safety related role a must;
- 3+ year’s prior experience as a Health & SafetyTraining Instructor is an asset;
- Prior experience or certification in occupational health and safety is an asset.

- Exceptional public speaking capabilities;
- A strong ability to speak with enthusiasm, clarity, and keep adult learners engaged;
- Exceptional teamwork capabilities;
- Strong work ethic;
- Strong organization skills;
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable equipment;
- Efficient with Microsoft PowerPoint;
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required with reliable transportation;
- Legally able to work in Canada.
Compensation
- Negotiated wage offered in accordance to experience and qualifications. EWS will cover the cost of start-up instructor training courses, should the successful candidate not have past experience and credentials.
