Health and Wellness Assistant

Position Hours: 1.0 FTE/35hours per week plus overtime as required
Contract Duration: Ends June 28, 2024
Annual Salary: $51,339 to $65,021 (pro-rated to hours worked)
The Health & Wellness Assistant supports the Board’s Short-Term Leave Disability Plan (STLDP) and Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) claims administration processes in a manner that promotes safe and early return-to-work priorities. Specific areas of accountability include establishing/monitoring appropriate workplace accommodations and administering STLDP / WSIB claims management programs for all employee groups under the direction of the Manager, Health and Wellness. This position also completes all data entry / record-keeping requirements of the Health & Wellness Office and supports the Board’s Health and Safety Officer.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Disability Management, Healthcare, Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Professional certification in one of the above disciplines and/or experience in the Education Sector is an asset
- At least one year experience in a related role, preferably in a large unionized public-sector environment
- Demonstrated capability to deliver on multiple tasks to deadline and within restricted timelines
- Exceptional interpersonal and conflict management skills with the ability to work in an interdependent team environment supporting the Health & Wellness function
- Exceptional oral communication skills and written communication skills
- Proven experience/expertise in disability claims management
- Excellence in client/customer service experience is a must
- Previous experience working with confidential information and maintaining employee privacy.
- Experience in the facilitation of workplace accommodations to support employee return-to-work initiatives
- Proven analytical skills with specific reference to the analysis of STLDP/WSIB claims and employee medical data to identify trends and support corrective action/continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience working with the Parklane system for incident reporting and disability management
- Experience and interest in Health and safety to assist the Health and Safety Officer
- As travel throughout the Board’s jurisdiction is a requirement of this position, candidates must possess a valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
