Position Summary
As Occupational Health & Wellness Specialist you will be responsible for implementing and administering a comprehensive Health & Wellness Strategy for the Sterling Road factory.
A day in the life of an Occupational Health & Wellness Specialist
- Implement and administer a comprehensive occupational Health & Wellness Strategy and program for the Sterling Road factory.
- Achieve key Health & Wellness objectives, including the implementation of the Market Health Strategy.
- Lead and coordinate ergonomics assessment, audiometric testing, respirator fit testing, and other industrial hygiene programs.
- Coordinate modified work and rehabilitation programs.
- Participate in job evaluations and assist in completing physical demands assessments when required.
- Administer first aid and investigate work-related incidents.
- Attend daily operational review meetings on the production floor, promoting safety objectives and fostering positive relationships to gain commitment from all employees.
- Manage Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) Case Management, health-related absences, and the early return to work program.
- Provide support to the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) team in various administrative tasks.
Role requirement
- Post-secondary education in a Health & Wellness related field, preferably in Occupational Health & safety
- Exhibit strong organizational skills, interpersonal abilities, and effective problem-solving capabilities.
- Capacity to work efficiently with minimal supervision, while thriving in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office application
- Flexible to work on different shifts as required.
Preferred Skills
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Training and experience in Occupational Health, preferably in a factory and unionized setting
- Working knowledge of pertinent legislation (i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario's Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Canada Labour Code)
