Job Description
Administers Disability and Workers' Compensation claims and directly manages the Company's return-to-work program. Assists in the management of employee hearing conservation and wellness programs that are designed to enhance employees' health and welfare. Maintains confidential, accurate, up-to-date medical and Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) records in compliance with the Key Elements of Safety Managed System and respective provincial regulatory requirements. Works closely with the plant & functional general management taking a proactive approach towards providing a safe working environment utilizing lean manufacturing techniques.
Job Responsibilities (include But Are Not Limited To):
- Provides primary care and assessments for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illness
- Implements care plans with follow-up nursing care and referrals
- Provides case management of short term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and CNESST claims
- Facilitates early and safe return to work and maintains effective incident injury/illness reporting procedures.
- Oversees adequate supply of medical, first aid, CPR, AED and other safety and health supplies.
- Maintain and assure compliance with all health & safety standards, education and required paperwork.
- Conduct periodic training, including but not limited to first aid, CPR, health & wellness, and other related areas.
- Interprets and promotes compliance with government legislation
- Providing on-site employee health nursing care, immunizations, and health counselling
- Participates in Occupational Health and safety maintenance
Qualifications (include But Are Not Limited To):
- Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BScN preferred
- Current COHN certificate preferred
- 3 to 5 years of Occupational Health experience preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to handle work with sensitive issues and protect confidentiality of medical information
- Sound judgement in the application of nursing and safety principles
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures, as well as occupational wellness programs
- Ability to do electronic charting, and database entry using Parklane Systems
- Computer skills and the ability to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in a unionized environment an asset.
- French Language is an asset
