Job description

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

As part of the Human Potential team, the HR Advisor plays an integral role within the HR team. The HR Advisor is responsible for developing and fostering working relationships with STEP professionals and provides delivery, facilitation and support on HR programs, policies, and practices. The HR Advisor will provide guidance, solutions, and partnerships to leaders in the effective planning and management of their people as well as providing assistance to employees with concerns and general people matters.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Establish effective relationships with STEP professionals, peers and leaders across business units to address current and future business needs.
  • Key contributor to STEP’s internal and external recruitment processes for designated client group, including job requisitions, needs identification, sourcing, screening and selection, and onboarding processes.
  • Participate and contribute to recruitment events (career fairs, etc.) and support seasons of high recruitment volume across the business.
  • Support managers and the business with overall talent management including the execution of a variety of HR related matters and processing employee lifecycle changes (i.e. recruitment, promotions, transfers, and terminations).
  • Play an active role in the delivery of performance management processes, including progressive discipline and guiding leaders with appropriate steps and action.
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of onboarding processes, including attending STEP Right In orientations to greet new STEP professionals.
  • Provide daily guidance to management and employees on employee-related issues to resolve in an effective manner.
  • Work closely with the HR Manager on employee relations issues, including possible employee workplace investigations and being part of actioning remedies.
  • Be a credible resource and trusted support for STEP professionals, enabling resolution of employee relations issues or workplace conflict.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support overall HR team with business restructuring needs, providing transition support, and assisting with reorganizations as needed.
  • Assist in the delivery of corporate programs and HR training/learning sessions as needed.
  • Ensure activities are in compliance with all provincial and federal laws and regulations to mitigate risk and exposure.
  • Identify and assist in implementing opportunities to enhance accountability and engagement in the workplace.
  • Assist in driving key HR programs and initiatives to provide HR team with information to enhance the exceptional employee experience (EEE).
  • Attend and participate in weekly safety and HR meetings.
  • Partner with the HR team to enhance the HR resource pages with information and resources for STEP professionals.
  • Any administrative support, including ad hoc requests or assignments, data entry, document creation, workflow development, or peer review support for the team.
  • Assist in the coordination of other people programs or initiatives.

WHAT WE REQUIRE:

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human resources, or a related discipline or equivalently weighted years of experience.
  • CPHR designation or working towards the designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of Human Resources experience preferably in a related industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Experience with UKG or other HR Systems is considered an asset.
