Human Resources Manager – Job Summary
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of Human Resources and personnel departments, and develop and implement policies, programs and procedures regarding human resource planning, recruitment, training and development, occupation classification and pay and benefit administration. Represent management and participate actively on various joint committees to maintain positive ongoing relations between management and employees. Develops and implements measures to increase employee morale, motivation and satisfaction, while reducing turnover. Coaches and consults managers and employees through the performance management process.

Key Accountabilities
· Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:
o The Global Operating System Plays;
o OHSAS 18001: Health and Safety management system standard;
o ISO 14001: Environmental Management system standard;
o TS 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.
· Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
· Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
· Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
o Maintain department 5S requirements.
· Evaluation of ER workload and determine resource requirements.
· Plan for hiring needs through awareness of new or increased customer requirements.
· Coordinate the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of employees to fill vacant positions.
· Prepare all documentation related to hiring, transfers and terminations.
· Oversee, prepare and track all disciplinary actions and documentation.
· Prepare reports and recommend procedures to reduce absenteeism, turnover and work related injuries.
· Manage the WSIB claims and work with management on early return to work programs.
· Advise management of changes to the Employment Standards Act and Human Rights Legislation.
· Represent organization at personnel related hearings and investigations.
· Oversee training records and scheduled training.
· Implement succession planning initiatives.
· Plan and organize employee functions as required.
· Champion of the Health and Safety program including but not limited to ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures, ISO 18001 requirements and applicable legislative requirements.
· Ensure that employee evaluations are conducted on or before the due date
Academic/ Educational Requirements
· A university degree in a field related to personnel management, such as business administration, industrial relations, commerce or psychology or completion of a professional development program in personnel administration is required.
· Enrolled in HRPAO accredited courses and working towards CHRP designation.
Required Skills and Experience
· Ability to read and obtain data from reports about compensation and benefits in order to align total compensation (including remuneration, benefits and pension) with company’s internal and external environments. Read application forms, resumes and cover letters from job applicants to evaluate their skills and potentially arrange work placements. Complete or direct the completion of staffing or job termination forms and pension benefit forms.
· Write policy papers to provide advice, guidance and recommendations on a wide variety of human resource matters such as worker health and security. Discuss job requirements with managers in order to offer expert advice in regard to occupational analysis, organizational development and succession planning.
· Working knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Legislation, Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other applicable health and safety legislation. Ability to investigate areas of concern and determine many possible reasons for the cause of action, and deal with these situations sensitively.
· Interpret financial statements in order to understand the financial health of the organization and the implications for the development of human resource strategies and plans.
· Work independently to conduct research and develop policy papers and reports as needed. Work with industry wide professional organizations, boards and with colleagues both inside and outside of organization.
· Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of applicable software programssuch as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with Human Resources information systems (such as InfoHR) would be an asset.
· Continuous learning to maintain a current knowledge of policies, procedures and industry practice and to upgrade computer skills. Required to learn through courses, such as community college and university courses, through on-the-job initiatives and through highly developed networking and professional liaison.
