Human Resources Manager

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services, and in collaboration with the Leadership Team, you will develop and enhance organizational culture and effectiveness through the planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of employee relations and Human Resources (HR) policies, programs, and practices.
Main Responsibilities:
Strategic Partnership
- Research developments within the HR field and implement changes as needed Lead the ongoing development of systems, processes and best practices, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the function Provide advice on HR issues affecting business operations
Recruitment
- Lead the recruitment, selection, and employment agreement negotiation processes Utilize proactive recruitment techniques and marketing strategies to attract top talent Ensure job descriptions are up to date and accurately reflect responsibilities and duties
Onboarding and Training
- Provide support and recommendations to enhance new hire orientation and the onboarding experience Develop and implement training initiatives aligned with organizational goals
Employee Relations and Engagement
- Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain and motivate employees Conduct workplace investigations, maintain employee records, deal with employee grievances and violations, and initiate disciplinary action as required Provide advice, coaching, and guidance to employees and supervisors on all HR related issues Lead the ongoing refinement and efficient execution of the performance evaluation process Ensure effective communication and transition planning for employee promotions and transfers Facilitate the development and implementation of Succession Plans Recommend changes and process updates for HR policy and procedures Manage Years of Service and other employee recognition programs
Regulatory, Compensation and Benefits
- Maintain the corporate compensation plan by conducting periodic salary surveys, benchmarking, scheduling and conducting job evaluations, recommending, planning and implementing of salary structure revisions, preparing salary budgets, monitoring and scheduling individual salary actions Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements (federal and provincial) Administer WSIB claims and the early and safe return to work program Create and manage the annual HR department budget
Employee Communication
- Maintain employee information boards and communication conduits both internally and externally Communicate in a transparent and honest manner with all employees
Analytics
- Preparation of reports related to but not limited to staffing, turnover, and providing action items to address gaps and issues Complete regular data audits to ensure accuracy Administer annual employee survey, conduct periodic employee focus groups and prepare analysis and recommendations to management
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management and Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation or working towards CHRL is preferred 7-10 year progressive HR experience, with a minimum 5 years as a Human Resources Manager, preferably in a pharmaceutical or other technical setting Strong knowledge of effective HR management, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, talent management, and compensation and benefits
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Access) and experience with Microsoft Dynamics an asset Health and Safety, payroll, and HRIS implementation/management experience would be an asset Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships with employees and key stakeholders Strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and keen attention to detail Good conflict resolution skills and the ability to provide effective counsel Proven ability to ensure integrity, confidentiality, and discretion in all dealings A confident, energetic individual with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
