Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte (MBQ) is a vibrant First Nation community located on the beautiful shores of the
Bay of Quinte. We are located approximately 20 minutes from Belleville, ON and centrally located between
Toronto and Ottawa. There are approximately 11,000 registered members with approximately 2200 residing in

Position Summary:
The Infrastructure Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the Infrastructure Department with implementation and development of financial policies and procedures for various infrastructure programs and capital projects. The position actively participates in budget preparation as part of the MBQ budgeting cycle for programs and projects, completing quarterly financial progress reporting, satisfying funding reporting requirements and reviewing Purchase
Order and Cheque Requisition procurement documentation for completeness and accuracy.

This position is considered temporary part time 24 hours per week with some variance depending on projects and reports directly to the Director of Community Infrastructure.

Reporting:
This position will report to the Director of Infrastructure. This position has no direct reports.

Summary of Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Community Infrastructure with organizing and establishing appropriate financial administration processes to ensure the proper cost tracking, filing and reporting requirements for the various capital projects managed by the Infrastructure Department including, tracking procurement contracts for various general contractors, engineering consultants and suppliers.
  • Compile the reporting requirements for the Ministry of Transportation subsidy report
  • Compiling project progress and completion reports as required for Federal/Provincial funding partners such as Indigenous Services Canada, and Infrastructure Ontario
  • Review and monitor Community Infrastructure statements for variances and reconcile with the General

Ledger to ensure accuracy and identify transaction corrections where necessary

  • Assisting Director with preparing program budget forecasting, quarterly monitoring and with year-end reconciliation and adjustments for auditing purposes
  • Reviewing Infrastructure budgets quarterly and identifying variances. financial progress reports of projects and programs
  • Review funding proposals for financial accuracy
  • Assist department managers as required with financial budgeting and procurement.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a financial related field (accounting, business administration, economics);
  • 1-2 years work experience in related field;
  • A combination of Education, Experience and Training may be considered
  • CAFM, CAPA or CGA designation an asset
  • Must provide a clear VSC (documentation will be required if successful applicant)
  • First Aid and CPR an asset (and must be willing to take the training if hired)
  • Valid Driver’s License and own transportation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office, email and internet)
  • Experience with accounting software (Sage, Sage APA)
  • Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
  • Well developed interpersonal, public relations and relationship building skills
  • Excellent organizational, time and file management skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to interact with external partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in interpreting financial data and presenting financial data
  • Knowledge of generally accepted Accounting Principles and standards
  • Knowledge of construction contract requirements
  • Federal and Provincial Funding agencies
  • Able to develop plans, set goals, objectives and priorities, strategies, and work plans
