Position Overview: As the TLC Intake Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting our Advocates as they work to prevent evictions and facilitate stable housing solutions for our clients. The successful candidate will be empathetic, organized, patient, resilient, culturally aware and have a good sense of humor. NECRC is happy to provide training for the right applicant.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for the public accessing the TLC program, including greeting visitors, answering calls, taking messages, making appointments, and directing inquiries.
- Provide support to clients by helping to identify barriers threatening their housing stability.
- Facilitate intake appointments, both in-office and off-site, for new clients.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting into government databases.
- Promote the TLC Program in the North End as well as other affected communities,
- Maintain vacancy lists and related service lists to help clients access the resources they need.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education plus relevant post-secondary training or education.
- 1-3 years of experience working in an office environment in a reception or assistant capacity.
- Knowledge of the North End/ inner-city communities and the unique challenges faced here.
- Knowledge of community resources and methods of access
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Skilled in preparing clear, concise emails and professional documents
- Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in accurately recording and managing client intake data
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, capable of objective assessments
- Insight into non-profit business and service operations.
- A trauma-informed approach in all interactions.
- Organized, adaptable and self-motivated.
