SUMMARY:
The incumbent is responsible for installing electronic equipment such as computers, tablets, and audio- visual equipment, servers and various software. In this role, the incumbent is required to diagnose and repair technical problems, software maintenance, monitor networks and servers, manage data security, and ensure computer systems are optimized and run efficiently. Working at all band offices, the incumbent will ensure effective communications with staff and immediate supervisor to ensure that all IT equipment and technologies are fully functional and accessible to staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist users in the setup, configuration, and operation of computer equipment and software;
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues and perform preventive maintenance and updates;
- Support LAN/WAN Internet connectivity access used by band offices;
- As required, escalate complex issues to higher-level technicians or specialists;
- Record and document user requests and methods of resolutions in a ticketing system;
- Prepare tools, guides, or any other relevant means to train users and develop their autonomy in using computer equipment and software;
- Keep an up-to-date inventory of IT assets;
- Advice on software or hardware equipment purchases to address the acquisition needs;
- Contribute to the development of knowledge bases and other resources to support end-user self-service;
- Continue skills development to strengthen your ability to offer support.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- College certificate or diploma in computer science;
- A+ certification, Network+ certification and/or Server+ certification or relative work experience;
- More than 4 years of relevant work experience;
- Any combination of education and equivalent experience will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Availability outside normal work hours to perform certain procedures and minimize the impact on user service;
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint and Google Workspace;
- Knowledge of PC and Apple hardware;
- General knowledge of networking services;
- General understanding of computer security practices, including physical, internet, and wireless security;
- Knowledge of Timiskaming First Nation (TFN) services, executive and operational policies and procedures is an asset;
- Knowledge of French language, written and spoken is an asset.
