Kitchen Prep Staff

Responsibilities

• Follow the prep list based on the Urban Cafe menu
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables
• Prepare dishes such as salads
• Prepare dishes for plating
• Distributing plates to wait staff to be served, cleaning plates for dish washing, and preparing take away packages for customers
• Maintain clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Requirements

• Available Monday-Friday daytime
• Proven kitchen experience
• Experience as a prep cook an asset
• Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
• Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment over the lunch hour
• A team player with good communication skills
• Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
• High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
