Based at our Vancouver plant location, we are hiring a permanent, full time Lab Technician. This role is responsible for accurately measuring, sampling and analysing various materials and finished products at the plant to ensure they meet customer and company specifications. The Lab Technician supports the Company’s goals of ensuring the highest quality of product for our customers and is an integral part of an efficient production process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draw and analyse samples of various raw materials received into the plant to ensure they meet predetermined specifications
- Draw and analyse samples of all finished products produced in the plant to ensure they meet or exceed customer specifications
- Draw and analyse waste water samples to ensure they are within specified permit levels
- Work with the Production department to perform non-routine testing as required
- Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands
- Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilities
- Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
- Possession of a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Sciences Technology Diploma from a recognized post-secondary educational institution
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated familiarity with technology such as Microsoft Office Suite products and other software
- Familiarity with the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) an asset
- Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures
