Job Posting Description:
- Perform quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis of samples submitted to LCBO's Quality Assurance Laboratory
- Prepare samples and reagents required for various analytical tests and sensory evaluation following approved methods and procedures.
- Document, validate and report results as per LCBO policy and maintain appropriate records
- Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and calibrate analytical instrumentation
- Maintain appropriate technical and other records adhering to Quality Management System requirements in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards
- Support laboratory Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards by participating in various laboratory programs
- Provide general laboratory support and carry out administrative tasks as assigned (e.g., routine laboratory housekeeping, glassware care, sample line-up set up for chemical analysis and sensory evaluation, sample disposal etc.).
- University Degree in Chemistry or related sciences
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in the field of analytical testing
- Proficiency in application and maintenance of HPLC, GC, ICP, NIR analyzers, Continuous Flow Analyzers and other instrumentation
- Demonstrated expertise in sample handling, sample preparation, extraction techniques and reagent preparation
- Applied knowledge of QMS in accordance with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 standards
- Full understanding of laboratory safety procedures through WHMIS training and/or other related training
- Excellent oral and written communication; demonstrated initiative, well developed team building and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications and network applications including, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, LIMS and QA web applications
- Strong attention to detail, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Sensory testing experience is considered an asset
