Omachron Science Inc. (OSI) is a small family-owned company located in Hampton, Ontario Canada doing research and development for the past 44 years.

Description

We are looking to hire a permanent, full-time Research Technician to work in our Floor Care and Small Appliance research group. A genuine interest in science and technology is a must along with a passion for doing things carefully and precisely as this is a critical position within our organization. A diploma or degree in science is a major asset but there is the opportunity to train the right person.

The job is from Monday to Friday, 0800 hrs (8am) to 1700 hrs (5pm). These hours of work may require modification to meet company needs. Annual holiday entitlement is 5 weeks after 12 months of employment with 3 weeks off each summer, one week between Christmas and New Years, and one week in March. Various other benefits begin after 6 months of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tact, discretion, and the ability to use sound judgment when dealing with scientific data
  • Ability to initiate and thoroughly document testing
  • Prepare analytical reports using test findings
  • Meticulously take readings, weights, and measurements for different experiments
  • Use relevant computer software programs to collect and input dates
  • Maintain excellent record keeping while adhering to quality and safety procedures
  • Work directly with the Head of Research, the research lab manager and other technicians to:
  • Discuss, plan, and carry out experiments using volt and amp meters, weigh scales, pressure meters, and other standard laboratory equipment
  • Assemble small prototypes for testing

What you will need

  • A diploma or degree in science is a major asset
  • You must be inquisitive, have a passion for science, be able to maintain a clean and organized work area, and be meticulous in taking readings, weights and measurements as the results of your work will be used directly for the experimental development of new products and processes
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds for short distances.
  • Visual abilities to see different colours
  • Literacy to read, understand and apply health & safety policies and procedures written in English
  • Must be discrete and able to uphold confidentiality requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office Skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint is an asset
  • Must have your own reliable transportation as there is no public transit in our area.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work well with a team and as an individual contributor
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to strict processing procedures
  • Ability to keep and record daily logs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • You will primarily work at the Hampton, Ontario Canada location
