Job description:
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Research Assistant/Technician to join a highly motivated and interdisciplinary research team. The successful applicant will work with the research team on a variety of projects related to chemical modification of thermoplastics surfaces (both 2D and 3D) and point-of-care testing (POCT) product development in a laboratory setting.
This position is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic chemist, biochemist, and/or biomedical engineer. It will provide you with extensive research experience and advanced knowledge in surface modification of thermoplastics and other POCT substrates such as paper, as well as nanotechnology-related product development in the long term. The position will report to Senior Scientist (Chemistry and Product Development).
The successful candidate should have a keen interest in and knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The position will be benchwork intensive. A background in laboratory research and experience is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Carry out laboratory experiments and record experimental results accurately
- Analyze, interpret, and report experimental data
- Prepare documentation and reports on research and findings
- Assist with the procurement of chemicals and other experimental materials
- Provide technical support to and collaborate with other researchers
- Adhere to strict safety protocol while carrying out the research work
- Other duties assigned by the supervisor or the management team
Requirements and skills:
- A degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering
- Experience working in a research laboratory
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
- Ability to work independently and with accuracy after proper training/empowerment
- A strong team player with excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and hard-working
- Knowledge in thermoplastics modification would be an asset
- Experience in bioanalysis, bioconjugation and nanotechnology would be a plus
