The Parks also provide facilities and services that foster economic development and make a positive social impact in the local community.

The Facilities and Operations Division is responsible for the planning, development, construction, operation, maintenance, and stewardship of buildings, infrastructure, sites, and services that fall within the mandate of Western Research Parks. Within the Division, the key accountabilities, include the provision of client services, electrical services, mechanical services, electrical/mechanical & elevator services, structural services, plumbing services, grounds/waste management, small renovation projects and coordination of larger renovation projects.

1.Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities & Operations, the Maintenance Assistant will assist and support day-to-day building operations and maintenance for Western Research Parks.

2.Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Role:

· Support the Facilities & Operations function through the execution of hands-on tasks in maintenance and caretaking, both inside and outside of buildings;

· Perform general labour such as meeting room set-up, window cleaning, painting, storage room clean-up, organizing materials, and assisting with the receiving of goods;

· Ensure assigned tenant maintenance requests are addressed in a timely and efficient manner; and

· Responsibilities may include working with power tools, transporting materials, maintaining a clean work environment, and other duties as assigned.

3.Education, Experience and Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary students are welcome to apply.

Experience: Previous work experience in a similar role is an asset.

· Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience;

· Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation;

· Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule;

· Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail;

· Ability to take initiative and work pro-actively with minimal supervision;

· Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western Research Parks policies and procedures;

· Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized work environment;

· Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, contractors and clients;

· Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve goals;

· Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion; and

· Must be physically capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to fifty (50) lbs.
