Job Summary
The Labour Relations Advisor provides day-to-day advice and guidance to Compass Group Canada leaders in the interpretation and application of Collective Agreements and on a wide range of Labour Relations topics and issues. Participates in conflict resolution processes. Also contributes to the formulation and delivery of tactical plans to support the Company’s Labour Relations objectives, assists in the early identification and resolution of issues, and fosters a positive union-management environment.
How you will make an impact:
-Provides technical guidance to the HR Service Centre and other members of the People & Culture team.
-Assists and occasionally participates in various labor management meetings with union representatives
-Assists Company Leaders with conflict resolution processes, including grievances of moderate complexity. Researches background information, documents findings, develops recommendations, prepares backup materials, may also liaises with legal counsel as required.
-Communicate effectively with Company Leaders and union representatives regularly to foster a collaborative working environment
-Develops and maintains relationships with union leaders and representatives, and participates in dialogue to resolve day-to-day Labour Relations issues
About you:
-Undergraduate degree in Labour Relations or a related discipline
-2 year of related experience involving the administration of Collective Agreements, participation in collective bargaining, handling grievances, and advising Leaders in the resolution of a wide variety of Labour Relations issues.
-Solid interpersonal and communication skills to provide specialized guidance and expertise to Company Leaders on a wide range of Labour Relations matters, and to handle conflict resolution processes, including grievances and arbitrations.
-Solid analytical and problem solving skills to conduct research and make recommendations in support of collective bargaining, conflict resolution processes and other Labour Relations issues.
-Able to work independently with minimal direction while demonstrating the ability to exercise mature judgment, prioritization and organizational skills
-Work in a fast-paced work environment that encourages collaboration & adopts change
-Working knowledge of the relevant HR systems, as well as standard office applications.
