Position Summary
We are looking for someone to join our operations team that will be pivotal to our business and growth in Red Deer, AB. In this full-time Lead Hand position, you will support operating companies with the implementation of their occupational health & safety standards and industry recommended practices. You will achieve this through and by United Safety’s policy, standards, procedures, and management direction. This is conducted in a variety of environments in the downstream petroleum industry including refinery, chemical, upgrader, power generation, and plant facilities for turnaround/shutdown, maintenance, and construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes and controls required activities with on-site client representative(s) for downstream activities including turnaround/shutdowns, plant facility maintenance, and plant construction
- Installs and dismantles (deploys) various safety equipment, including loading and transporting equipment to the worksite; strategically places required equipment for rapid response (positioned appropriately) including air trailers, lines, manifolds, breathing apparatuses, gas detection systems, barriers, signs and briefing areas
- Operates and ensures function, operational readiness of various equipment and testing systems to ensure response quality
- Conducts drills, rescues, inspections & tests, site hazard assessments and safety meetings on-site
Requirements
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Reside in Red Deer
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License (No GDLs)
- Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Possess current H2S Alive, 2-day Standard First Aid, and Common Safety Orientations (CSO) safety tickets
- Able to successfully complete specialized paid training by United Safety
