As a Leader, Parking Facilities Maintenance reporting to Coordinator, Parking Operations, you will be responsible for providing planning, and oversight to the Parking Facilities teams within the Calgary Parking (CP) Division. In this diverse teams comprised of Exempt and Union personnel, you will be responsible to supervise, develop & train, team leadership, budget/financial management, work assignment & oversight, Fleet management, strategic & operational alignment, optimization of programs and services, and overall responsibility for the delivery maintenance and repair services. Primary duties include:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations; assign, oversee and assess the completion of demand, preventative and predictive maintenance work orders, ensuring work is conducted effectively, efficiently, and safely.
  • Conduct short term planning, analysis, prioritization, and scheduling for regular, planned and emergency maintenance events.
  • Manage tenant and stakeholder relationships including tenant/ stakeholder communications.
  • Manage assigned resources (financial and human); identify resource requirements and communicate shortfalls. Manage the section's budget; review and approve invoices.
  • Manage and respond to facility related Service Requests from citizen.
  • Provide leadership regarding continuous improvement and the advancement of maintenance management projects.
  • Evaluate methods and processes that improve efficiency and reduce risk to facility maintenance, assessing current practices with the view of performance improvement and application, e.g., tool management, fleet utilization, internal space utilization, safety protocols and practices etc.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with management and tenant groups during emergency/critical situations and keep them apprised of any developments. 
 
Qualifications 
  • A completed Red seal Journeyman Certificate in a related field and at least 10 years of experience in an area related to facility maintenance and, leadership, or supervision; OR
  • A completed Engineering Technology Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, or related field and at least 8 years of experience in facility maintenance and operations, leadership, or supervision.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • A Facilities Management Designation (FMA) is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop and lead strong teams while maintaining positive work relationships, lead change and promote innovation effectively on technical, operational, and business issues to multiple audiences.
  • You are an organized professional who demonstrates sound judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive information, exceptional attention to detail, success in anticipating work needs, and a proactive approach to addressing parking facility maintenance initiatives.
 
Pre-employment Requirements 
  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted. 
  • Applicants will be tested for appropriate skills. 
  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
 
Pre-employment Drug Test:An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
