Legal Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team in our corporate commercial division. The successful candidate should also have experience in debt recovery and property law. You will be supporting our practice by preparing legal documents, drafting correspondence, monitoring deadlines, as well as organizing and maintaining files. You will also be responsible for general administrative tasks, such as opening files, answering phone calls, responding to emails, scheduling meetings, and preparing invoices. Preference will be given to applicants with previous litigation and/or debt collection experience and knowledge of the court system in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to lawyer/paralegal and enhance office effectiveness
- Draft and file legal documents and correspondence
- Monitor deadlines and maintain a detailed calendar
- Update files with case status and information
- Perform relevant legal research for active cases
- Answer phones and take messages

Requirements
- 2 + years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm setting
- English is essential and French is an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office

Salary: $35,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
