MLT Aikins Saskatoon is in search of an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our advocacy practice for a 15-month term position. This position provides administrative and clerical support for lawyers in the litigation team of the Saskatoon office. The ideal candidate will have good practical training and experience from working in a busy litigation practice and will have graduated from an accredited legal program (equivalencies will be considered). Candidates must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload, pay attention to detail, have excellent organization, and communication and written skills.
Responsibilities Include:
Transcribing digital dictation, creating documents from standard forms or handwritten notes
Performing complex editing and formatting for correspondence and various legal documents
Preparing court materials such as application records, books of authorities, appeal records and appeal books
Completing day-to-day administrative tasks such as file organization, diarizations, booking appointments, and maintaining calendars
Organizing and prioritizing numerous tasks and completing them under time constraints
Performing client conflict checking, opening new client matters and maintaining established files
Preparing client billings, responding to billing inquiries and coordinating with clients on billing preferences and outstanding accounts
Maintaining an efficient file system (physical and electronic files)
Performing general administrative duties as required
