We are actively seeking a dynamic and result-driven individual to join our team at Laidlaw Carriers Bulk in the role of Logistics (Brokerage CAN/US) Operation Lead out of our Woodstock, Ontario office (in person).
As a key member of our Logistics team, you will be instrumental in propelling revenue growth through the acquisition of new partner carriers and the expansion of existing relationships. You will be entrusted with the oversight and management of the daily operations within our Logistics (freight brokerage) division where your responsibilities will include ensuring the seamless execution of freight transportation, nurturing client relationships, and optimizing the overall operational efficiency of the department. We are seeking an ideal candidate with a robust background in logistics, a proven leadership track record, and a profound understanding of the intricacies of the freight brokerage industry.
Salary for this role is highly dependent on the candidates qualifications and experience.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the customer service and dispatch teams.
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline operational processes and enhance overall efficiency.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with carriers and shippers to ensure the timely and cost-effective movement of freight.
- Deliver client expectations and scorecards.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop initiatives to improve operational performance and achieve business objectives.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify opportunities for business growth and expansion and collaborate with sales leadership to support and execute the sales plan.
- Drive profitability through a focus on: strong carrier relationships and agreements
- Oversee agreements and compliance with key carriers.
- Analyze market trends and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Implement and maintain operational best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Effectively manage your human resources and technology resources to drive results.
- Drive a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team. Develop talent within the team.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with carriers, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth and efficient freight operations.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
Requirements
- Strong background in freight brokerage in Canada & US with experience in carrier operations and/or customer service and/or a sales role.
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets and quotas.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Relevant education in supply chain, operations management, business, logistics OR equivalent work experience in managing freight brokerage operations is an asset.
- 5+ years of people management and/or leadership experience is required.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to confidently lead and inspire people with a focus on enabling the team though delegation and assigning accountability.
- Strong interpersonal skills, proven problem solver, solutions orientated, proven ability to establish efficient processes and systems.
- Comfortable working with technology - PC skills such as MS Word, Outlook, and Excel - Willing to learn new technological platforms.
- Experience with a TMS software.
