C.A.S. Power Marine Ltd. is Waterloo Region's largest marine retailer, specializing in new & used boat, trailer and outboard motor sales. Our service department operates year-round with factory-trained technician's from leading manufacturers ensuring our customer's boats are ready for the water!

Purpose of the Role:
Contribute to the growth and success of C.A.S. Power Marine Ltd. through improved service department efficiency by being the “nurse” to our “surgeons”. The Yard Hand & Forklift Operator will ensure boats are ready for the technician to complete service requests; The Yard Hand & Forklift Operator will provide a high level of customer service by courteously assisting customers with hooking up to their boats or delivering their boats as necessary. Maintaining company equipment, performing regular shop maintenance and assisting around the shop as necessary is also an important role for this position as the Yard Hand & Fork Lift Operator is responsible for safely operating marina equipment such as forklifts, tractors and hydraulic trailers while maintaining an organized and well-kept boat yard.

Skills

• Ability to use shop equipment to quickly and carefully move boats as required, including backing up a truck and trailer with ease
• Ability to safely operate a boat on the water in all weather conditions
• Good organization skills with the ability to work methodically, accurately and neatly
• Good communication skills
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to diverse clients

Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of legal towing requirements as set by the Ministry of Transportation
• Knowledge of relevant employment and OHS issues

Qualifications / Experience

• Clean and valid driver’s license (Required)
• Valid Forklift license
• 3+ years of towing, launching and hauling out boats
• Pleasure Craft Operators Card

Customer Service

• Bring customer’s boat to gate for pick-up
• Bring boats into compound when dropped off, park in proper location
• Report any damage or missing items to management.
• Visually inspect customer trailers at drop off, record recommendations on customer Repair Order to ensure legal compliance/road safety (lights, tie downs, etc.)
• Work with the Service Manager, review upcoming Repair Orders to prepare units for Technicians. Ensure boat is on the pad (or quick access in the main compound if pad is otherwise not available), shrink wrap removed, all necessary parts, accessories, tools are gathered and confirming all ordered parts have arrived prior to Technician beginning or continuing work
• Work with the Service Advisor to ensure boats are efficiently and effectively delivered on time and to the right destination
• Pick up parts, shop supplies from local stores
• Fuel boats as necessary

Ad Hoc Activities as Requested / Directed

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $17.50-$22.50 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 48 per week

• towing: 1 year (preferred)
• boat docking: 2 years (preferred)
