Job description – Maintenance Coordinator
The job description outlines the qualifications, employment variables, duties of the position of a Maintenance Coordinator and to whom the employee is responsible. It does not guarantee employment and will be reviewed and revised from time to time.
· Work safely at all times and promptly inform management about unsafe conditions existing.
· Maintain cleaning equipment and tools in good working condition and notify ED if repairs or replacements are necessary.
· Maintain appropriate supply levels in assigned janitorial closets and storage areas;
· Daily maintenance and upkeep of Craigholme, Kitchen, Apartments, Day Centre, etc.
· Collect building waste throughout the day and place in designated collection area(s) for removal;
· Performs minor electrical maintenance, minor plumbing maintenance, minor painting, carpentry and masonry work;
· Must be able to work flexible hours and be on call as required;
· Maintain an organized system for all documentation;
· Oversee all facilities maintenance and upkeep, act as the external vendor contact for maintenance and repair;
· Sign in/out and escort contractors in accordance with CWG policies;
· Ongoing management of the relationship and communication within all departments, tenants, clients, and residents
· Assist with issuance, return and maintenance of security
· Conduct monthly fire/emergency drills.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Conducts monthly checks, maintains records on safety equipment i.e. fire systems, exit lights, emergency generators, exit doors,
· starts generators monthly, temperature checks on water supplies,
· Strip and Wax floors in residents room / hallways /dinning rooms / lobbies / common areas etc.
· Collects and removes garbage and recyclables from buildings, two to three times daily
· Repairs nursing home beds, wheelchairs, kitchen and laundry equipment, etc. upon request.
Qualifications:
· Strong written and verbal communication skills;
· High School Diploma
· Post Secondary diploma will be an asset
· Ability to conduct basic maintenance on a variety of different things.
· Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and products;
· An effective multi-tasker;
· Working knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act 2021
· Previous janitorial and building maintenance experience;
· Able to prioritize with a high sense of urgency while working in a fast paced environment;
· Able to take direction;
· Can work independently and function cooperatively as part of a team.
Employment Variables
· Able to work the required hours on a weekly basis.· Available for emergency call-ins when necessary. · Available to assist in setting up for special functions and other assignments.· In good physical and mental health to cope with heavy lifting and decision-making.
